TIMERS
The timers' responsibilities require the use of stop watches to ensure the gymnasts perform their routines within certain time restrictions.

Arrive ½ hour before competition starts to become familiar with the procedures and watches. Report to the office to secure stop watches.

Bar Timers
The gymnast is allowed 30 seconds to remount after a fall. The fall time does not stop until gymnast resumes her routine. Climbing up to support position and waiting is not considered resuming routine. Give "Warning" at 25 seconds. Ask judge if you should announce "Warning".
Optional Floor
Length of floor exercise is 1 minute 10 seconds minimum to 1 minute 30 seconds maximum. Timing begins with first movement of gymnast (not music) and stops with final movement. If routine is under 1 minute 10 seconds, it is under time and you advise the judge before you clear the watch.
Beam Routine Timer
Time routine from start to finish. Start as gymnast leaves floor or board and finish as gymnast arrives on floor. Stop time if gymnast falls and restart when she remounts and resumes with the first movement to continue the exercise.
Level         Announce "Warning"          Announce "Time"
   5                      1 minute                           1minute 10 seconds
   6             1 minute 5 seconds                 1 minute 15 seconds
   7             1 minute 10 seconds               1 minute 20 seconds
   8             1 minute 20 seconds               1 minute 30 seconds
   9             1 minute 20 seconds               1 minute 30 seconds
  10            1 minute 20 seconds               1 minute 30 seconds
NOTE: For levels 8, 9, and 10, if routine is under 1 minute 10 seconds it is under time and tell judge before you clear watch.
Beam Fall Timer
Time falls only. Start when gymnast falls to floor and stop when gymnast remounts the beam. She has 10 seconds to remount. Give "warning" at 5 seconds. Reset stop watch to start at "0" if falls again. Advise judge if over time limit.
NOTE: Timers: prior to the start of competition confirm the timing procedure with the judge at your event. For example, do they want to see the watch before you clear it if gymnast is over or under time?
